The creative vision was to create a facility that would be upbeat, cool and exciting for young people. A gymnasium, game room/café area, meetings rooms, a state-of-the-art Forum and offices were to be housed in one location. The exterior of the building is composed of split face block and several pre-engineered metal buildings. The buildings are juxtaposed around a center core of corridors and support offices creating the connecting spine between the three main buildings. Industrial materials of stained concrete, heavy gauge wire, brushed sheet metal and structural steel were used to create a dynamic techno feeling in the game room/café. The open plan game room/café is divided into several sections. An elevated platform defines the café lounge while a structural steel and wire canopy provides a covering for game tables. A computer gaming area is sectioned off by metal clad and wire mesh partitions. The remainder of the space is set up with comfortable sofas and chairs. Situating several pieces of funky furniture created mini focal points within the large open room.
