THE WICK – HUDSON, NY
This building was originally built in the 1860’s as a soap and candle manufacturing plant, and this adaptive re-use historic preservation project preserved and transformed this historic property into a 55-room boutique Tribute Portfolio Hotel located in Hudson, NY. We designed contemporary hotel rooms and suites while emphasizing existing features of this historic building. Other amenities in the design included a fitness room, spa treatment rooms, a lobby bar, and a rooftop restaurant with views of Hudson Valley. Once the design was finalized, we made the necessary submissions to NY SHPO and NPS Historic Tax Credit submissions. Extensive repairs were made to the exterior masonry, and steel replica aluminum windows were used throughout. The result was an updated and upscale hotel that preserves the historic building’s heritage throughout the exterior and interior design with details that evoke the spirit of Hudson and honor its industrial candle-making history.
